While we always had the environment front of mind, we perhaps weren’t as creative as we now think we are. To kick off the business, we already had the following environment-conscious packaging initiatives in play:
Our current feats:
- HeapsGood Hex Wrap - instead of plastic bubble wrap (thanks to our Supplier, HeapsGood for this one). Not only fully compostable but recyclable too. Oh - and FSC.
- HeapsGood Ecolabels - Ecolabels have a specifically-designed adhesive that can be safely composted without leaving harmful residues.
- Sendle Shipping - We use a carbon-neutral, Certified B Corp, Sendle.Everytime a parcel is shipped with Sendle, they ‘offset the carbon emission and invest in remarkable environmental projects’. See here for more about their mission to be a force for good.
- 100% Recycled Kraft Paper - to cushion your special treats.
- Shipper Box - 100% recyclable.
Not a bad start, but still plenty to improve on. And so our journey begins here.
We are, and will always, continue to reduce and improve our packaging to generate as minimal waste as possible and make sure your gift arrives safe and sound - while also encouraging our suppliers to do the same.
When we say transparency is our thing, we mean it. Here is a list of our current packaging, it’s current purpose and our plans to reduce or improve it.
We believe strongly in doing our part to reduce waste and also know we need to get our branding out there so other people can support a business like us doing good things. That’s why, of the very few marketing collateral items decided to keep, we are making sure their production, reuse or disposal are super low impact (and hopefully one day high impact in the RIGHT way).
We certainly aren’t perfect and we probably never will be, and that’s okay. The important thing here is our genuine commitment and relentless care that will keep us on the path of leaving this earth in a better state than when we found it.
